What does the Team for Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility do?

The Team for Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility is a platform for cooperation of the government administration with business representatives and social and economic partners for adaptation to the challenges of sustainable development by promoting social responsibility in market practices. The basis for the operation of the Team, in the current format, is the Order of the Minister of Investment and Development of May 10, 2018. The history of the team dates back to 2009. At that time, the first Corporate Social Responsibility Team was established at the Ministry of Economy. The form and scope of cooperation have changed over the years. In 2018, a broad platform for dialogue was renewed, involving representatives of various circles in joint activities to raise the ethical standards of the activities conducted by enterprises. It is composed of representatives of the government administration, the social side, employers’ organizations, trade unions, industry and sector associations, the scientific and academic community, and non-governmental organizations. In total, nearly 70 institutions and organizations participate in the work of the Team. The main tasks of the team are:

  • conducting dialogue, exchanging experiences and good practices between public administration, business, social and economic partners in the field of sustainable development and CSR,
  • disseminating the principle of social solidarity and responsible business activity,
  • shaping the relationship between the competitiveness of the economy, care for the natural environment and quality of life by developing recommendations on the directions of implementing CSR principles in public policies for the purposes of effective implementation of the objectives of the Strategy for Responsible Development,
  • disseminating the concept of social responsibility in public administration

Thematic areas for the Team’s work result from the most current socio-economic challenges in Poland as well as from the current directions of key public policies. The assumption of a wide representation of government bodies and public institutions in the work of the Team is to maintain consistency of the thematic issues raised with the priority directions of the country’s development. The tasks of the Team are carried out by specialized working groups. During the second meeting of the Team (September 26, 2018), the Team appointed 5 working groups to carry out the assumed tasks:

  • Working Group on Consumer Affairs
  • Working group on innovation for sustainable development and CSR
  • Working group for university social responsibility
  • Working group on corporate social responsibility of administration
  • Working group on relations with workers
