When is periodic occupational health and safety training not required?

Periodic employee health and safety training is not required for an employee employed in an administrative and office position.

This applies to situations where the type of the employer’s predominant activity, within the meaning of the provisions on public statistics, is in a group for which a risk category no higher than third within the meaning of the provisions on social insurance in respect of accidents at work and occupational diseases has been established, unless the assessment occupational risk assessment, which is developed and documented by the employer, shows that it is necessary.

If the type of the employer’s predominant activity within the meaning of the provisions on public statistics is included in the group of activities with a risk category higher than the third within the meaning of the provisions on social insurance in respect of accidents at work and occupational diseases, or if such a necessity arises from the assessment of occupational risk, the employer is obliged to conduct periodic training of the employee in the field of occupational health and safety within a period not longer than 6 months from the date of determining the higher risk category.

People may be exempt from periodic occupational health and safety training if:

  • present a current certificate of completion of the required periodic training during the validity period of the last training with another employer,
  • within the time specified above, have completed periodic training required for persons employed in positions belonging to another group of positions, if the thematic scope of the training program in the current position corresponds to the training program applicable in the new position.
