Do Poles value work-life balance?

Employees are increasingly valuing work-life balance. According to the Randstad Workmonitor survey, as many as 57% of employees in Poland and around the world would reject a job offer that could have a negative impact on this aspect. At the same time, as many as 64% of Poles declare an ambitious approach to their work, which is a significantly higher percentage compared to other countries (56%).

The global trend indicates that employees, both in our country and abroad, prioritize work-life balance. It is the work-life balance that is at the top of the list of the three most important factors influencing satisfaction with the current or potential workplace: 94% of indications in Poland and 93% globally. In second place is salary: 92% and 93% of responses, respectively, and in third place – a sense of employment stability (89% each).

Although the majority of global employees describe their career approach as ambitious (56%), 51% say they are happy to stay in a job they enjoy, even if it doesn’t offer the prospect of promotion. Polish employees stand out in this respect: as many as 64% consider themselves ambitious, while at the same time 53% are inclined to stay in a job they like, even at the expense of career progression. Poles are less likely than other respondents to consider resigning from their jobs if they are not developing in it (29% vs. 35% globally), and much less willing to take on managerial responsibilities (33% vs. 47% globally).

57% of respondents would not accept an offer of employment if it could negatively affect the work-life balance, and 48% would decide to give up a job that does not allow them to enjoy life – in both cases the results for Polish and globally are identical.

According to the survey, a slightly smaller percentage of employees in Poland are optimistic about the possibility of communicating their career ambitions compared to other countries: globally, 46% of respondents believe that they can openly talk to their employer about career development opportunities, while in Poland this is confirmed by slightly fewer people, i.e. 42% of employees.
