What do the colors of construction helmets mean?

Protective helmets are a very important element of protective clothing that should be used by all employees on the construction site. Construction helmets are used by all persons who intend to be on the construction site.

Helmets on the construction site, i.e. comprehensive head protection. The design of the helmets at the construction site allows them to be used for many years. A characteristic feature of the helmets is their extremely high-quality construction and a wide range of adjustment options to the individual needs of the user.

The blue color of construction helmets means that you can work in the area where the machines are located. In this case, remember to protect your head and hands and use appropriate protective equipment to avoid accidents. Blue helmets are for working at height.

An orange helmet on a construction site means you have to wear protective clothing. Usually worn by surveyors.

At the construction site, the yellow helmet is worn by manual workers. They are absolutely necessary and therefore must be worn by every employee.

Red helmets are worn by visitors and apprentices.

A green helmet on a construction site is a color that allows you to work without protective clothing, but with the obligation to use preventive measures. In turn, the green helmet is worn by OHS employees.

The black helmet is worn by architects and by the building supervision inspector.

A white helmet usually worn by the construction manager, but also by the construction and environmental engineers, and also by the supervisory inspector.

Helmets are mandatory on construction sites where physical work is performed. By law, an employee who is not involved in these works must wear an appropriate helmet. As statistics show, there are a lot of accidents involving users of means of transport in Poland.

The most common causes are: carelessness and inattentiveness of drivers of motor vehicles and the lack of a helmet.

The employer is obliged to ensure the safety of employees during the performance of their duties. Therefore, on a construction site where physical work is performed, a helmet must be an integral part of every employee’s clothing. The employer is obliged to comply with this standard. In the case of a motor vehicle that is driven without a helmet, there is a fine of PLN 150 to PLN 500. However, if the pedestrian does not participate in the construction, he may be fined from PLN 50 to PLN 100. In most cases, working on a construction site without a helmet can lead to serious consequences.

A helmet should be worn primarily because physical work cannot be performed without it. The use of mechanical devices, e.g. lifts or construction machines and equipment, is tantamount to the obligation to wear appropriate uniforms: a helmet and workwear. The helmet protects our head from any accidents.

Here are other reasons why you must wear a hard hat on construction sites:

  • The helmet protects the head against mechanical injuries
  • While working on a construction site, falls or knocks can occur, and a helmet becomes a reliable protection.
  • It allows you to see from a distance who is doing what on the construction site.
  • The helmet also protects against electric shock, which results in paralysis, shock and even death.
  • Its presence on the construction site is required by the employer, because it protects the user when standing at heights and protects him from various building materials.
