What is Mock negotiations?

Mock negotiations are nothing more than trial / mock negotiations, i.e. a type of negotiation training.

They are usually part of learning (studies, training). This is a negotiation training, one of the best you can imagine. Provided, however, that the process is supervised and piloted by an experienced and competent trainer-negotiator.

Mock negotiations give training participants the opportunity to:

  • getting to know the course of the entire negotiation process (negotiation stages),
  • practicing established roles,
  • become familiar with the practical use of selected negotiation techniques,
  • application of learned (in theory) principles of negotiation,
  • conscious observation of emotions accompanying conversations,
  • testing theory in practice,
  • enriching negotiation skills.

Finally, they also allow for a detailed discussion of the behavior of workshop participants and an in-depth analysis of various negotiation scenarios.

Mock negotiations also take place in business. Here especially before very difficult and complex negotiations. They are organized as part of preparation for meetings/conversations with negotiating partners. They are used primarily for:

  • division of roles within the group of people participating in the process,
  • practicing various scenarios,
  • preparing participants for difficult conversations,
  • and, as a result, to minimize the risk of failure…

A great idea similar to mock negotiations are all kinds of negotiation competitions. They give participants the opportunity to practice their competences in negotiation situations. What is also important is the fact that such events are mainly attended by negotiation enthusiasts and specialists in this field. It is therefore a unique opportunity to meet and talk to people who share our fascinations.
