What was the survey of entrepreneurs about their experiences during the pandemic?

In mid-July, the Institute for Public Affairs Research, commissioned by the Lewiatan Confederation, conducted research among entrepreneurs on their experiences during the pandemic. They assessed, among others dialogue between the state and business.
The study covered 300 entrepreneurs and focused mainly on issues that will be important in the future. Among them, questions about job protection and government actions occupied an important position.

According to the IBSP study, 79 percent. of companies believe that there is no clear strategy for supporting the economy for the next several months. They also negatively evaluate the actions taken by the government so far – according to 76 percent. of the respondents, he conducted far too little dialogue with the business community. The same percentage of entrepreneurs is afraid that after three months of support they will be left alone with their problems.
On the other hand, as we read in the report, according to 66 percent. of employers, information about the help they could obtain was available and understandable to them. When assessing the scope and timing of the freezing of the economy, 63 percent. indicated that it was taking too long. Business is clearly impatient.

– Employers passed the challenge of the last four months with honors. Despite the great concern expressed in our research during the pandemic, we are still optimistic about the future. What failed was the dialogue between the government and the business community and the government’s information activities – commented the results of the research by the president of the Lewiatan Confederation, Maciej Witucki.

On the other hand, the study shows that employers used help during the pandemic
countries. The most useful form of support under the anti-crisis shields was exemption from social security contributions – according to 61 percent. entrepreneurs. However, in the case of almost 20 percent. thanks to this help, the respondents could keep the company. Second in terms of the form of support, tax deferral and downtime financing (for 42% of enterprises) turned out to be useful. Downtime was greatly appreciated by almost 30 percent. large entrepreneurs – this form of assistance was necessary for them to maintain the company. A very important support for employers (and employees) was also the subsidy of salaries from the labor office (this is what 36% of respondents answered), and 24% firmrm indicated liquidity aid from BGK.
The entrepreneurs were also asked to indicate the difficulties they encountered when applying for help from the shield. The biggest barrier turned out to be the unclear interpretation of the regulations – this was indicated by 43 percent. entrepreneurs. Employers also complained about the excessively long waiting time for the examination of the application (according to 40% of respondents). The companies indicated too narrow access criteria and too complicated procedures (31% of responses each) as other obstacles in applying for support. In addition, 30 percent. had problems obtaining detailed information.
