What does the report „Women @ Work 2022: A Global Outlook” show?

The report „Women @ Work 2022: A Global Outlook” shows that widespread occupational fatigue and lack of flexible working hours are not conducive to women. Although half of them experience microaggressions at work, less than one in four informs their employer.

The study involved five thousand women from 10 countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, South Africa). 53% of them feel higher levels of stress than last year, and almost half feel burned out. Women, more often than a year ago, are thinking about changing their workplace. More than half of the respondents would like to do so in the next two years.

Although the majority of respondents experienced exclusion, women representing ethnic minorities, LGBT+ communities and those in lower management positions are the most vulnerable to this type of behavior. Many of them believe that the prospects for their career development are worse today than they were 12 months ago.

Ethnic minorities are more likely to experience burnout than women belonging to the main ethnic group in the country. They are also much less likely to report cases of exclusion in informal contacts (15% vs 10%) and condescending treatment (9% vs 2%).

Employment in a company that is a leader in the field of gender equality has benefits for women themselves, but there are also clear benefits for employers. None of the women employed in a leading company in the field of gender equality are currently looking for a new job, and only nine percent plan to change their place of employment in the next year/two years. In addition, 90 percent rate their level of motivation as high or very high.
