Job loss and finances are the main concerns of Polish employees. However, they are saved by staff shortages.

Although in the face of the next wave of coronavirus, there are growing fears of job loss and deterioration of the financial situation, employees should not be afraid for their future – assess experts from Personnel Service. In their opinion, the staff deficit, which is boosted by limited migration from Ukraine, speaks in favor of employees.

Experts referred to GUS data on the consumer climate in July this year, according to which there is a growing fear of losing a job due to the pandemic. In June this year. 3.3% of respondents felt overwhelmed fear for a job or ceasing to run their own business. subjects. In July, this number increased to 4.9 percent. The answer „it is possible that I am afraid” was chosen in July this year. 16.5 percent people, while in June 13.2 percent. On the other hand, 42 percent are not afraid of losing a job. of employed persons, by 5.3 percentage points. less than a month earlier.

„Due to reports from other countries, where the number of cases is starting to increase again, the mood among employees is deteriorating. And although the latest labor market indicators are optimistic, because, among others, according to preliminary data, unemployment in June fell below a million people or wages are rising faster than the experts assumed, we are afraid of what autumn will bring „- commented Krzysztof Inglot, President of Personnel Service.

In his opinion, employees should be reassured by the fact that few companies decided to lay off after the anti-crisis shields expired. „This shows that employees should not be afraid for their future,” he added.

As noted, in the GUS survey, employees’ concerns about the deterioration of their personal financial situation also increased. According to almost 15 percent of respondents, the current epidemiological situation poses a major threat to their finances. Most, because 41 percent. feels an average threat. Within a month, these indicators deteriorated, because in June 13.5% were most concerned about their finances. of respondents, the average threat felt 38.5 percent. The number of people with low anxiety about their finances also decreased – from 32.4 percent. in June to 28.2 percent. in July.

The demand for workers will also increase, which results, among others, from the fact that economic migration from Ukraine has slowed down „- stated Inglot

He emphasized that in 2019 the number of employees arriving from Ukraine to Poland was even up to 2 million. Now these numbers are approx. 800 thousand. „So you can see that this is a large gap, which will probably not be bridged for the next 2-3 years,” he said.

According to 48 percent surveyed by the Central Statistical Office, the current epidemiological situation poses a significant threat to the economy in Poland. This percentage remained at a similar level as in June this year, but fell by as much as 13 percentage points. compared to the May edition of the survey. The average threat posed by the pandemic to the economy is felt by 42.8%. subjects. Only 8.7% declared a low threat, while 0.5% said no threat. respondents.
