How to effectively attract new talents?

A new Edelman report has been published, devoted to the motivations behind the shape of the employee-employer relationship. It stated that strictly financial issues were no longer an incentive to work longer and harder. The values guided by a given company play an increasingly important role.

Edelman Trust Barometer. The belief-driven employee ”is a special report which is an extension of the last edition of the“ Edelman Trust Barometer ”. It stated that the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that companies, wishing to create attractive jobs, had to respond to the new needs of employees. These are related, inter alia, with new work patterns, including support for work-life balance, as well as expectations regarding commitment to social issues.

Employees and employees, just like consumers, expect corporate activism from brands. They want employers to actively join the fight against the most important challenges of the modern world.

As indicated by 77% of the respondents, the employer is the most reliable source of information for them. The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced this growing trend. Moreover, the employees expect the company to be open to the problems or suggestions they report. Interestingly, almost half of the respondents (43%) stated that their employer was not coping well with the problem of burnout.

The set of values guided by a given employer plays a key role. 61% of respondents when choosing a workplace are guided by the consistency between the attitudes or views manifested by the company and their own beliefs. Employers who transparently and consistently communicate their approach to social issues are considered trustworthy and, consequently, attractive in the eyes of potential employees.
